Poker Face

Do you ever receive that itch? The itch to bet, to head to the closest gambling den, to locate a superior stakes game of Texas hold em, to sit at a Black-jack table for hours on end. I like that itch. And I really like to scratch it.

I also like to watch people today wager. No 2 poker faces seem identical. When I bet I like to believe I put on a poker face that’s impenetrable. But I know I’ve specific actions. For one, the only time I smoke cigarettes is when I wager on poker or Twenty-one. And then I smoke. But I chain smoke no matter if I am succeeding or losing, regardless of whether I’ve a very good hand or bad.

I once wagered within a weekly poker game. The casino game was usually 5 card draw. There was a man who bet with us each and every week who often wore a hat. When he was given a excellent hand, unconsciously, he would begin touching and betting with his hat. Pointless to say, he by no means won.

The greatest poker player I ever saw was a gentleman who created far more actions and signals at a poker table than anybody I had ever met. He was impressive in the way he dressed. Often an expensive suit and tie, footwear shined and nails manicured. He was fastidious in this manner. And he was always brushing his pants or rubbings his hands or putting his chips in tidy little piles.

I use to analyze him for hours on end. I’d attempt to see if I could spot his tell. Choosing lint off his vest- did this mean he was bluffing? Arranging his chips within a short pile – did this mean he had a beneficial hand?

Years later I ran into him in the bar in Vegas and we had a drink. I asked him if he were aware of all those actions he produced or if they had been subconscious. He told me that every single little thing he did at a poker table was deliberate. He said that everybody is often checking out everyone else’s poker face. They are trying to detect the the tell.

So his program was to provide them lots to assume about. His thinking was if they had been thinking about him choosing a piece of fuzz off his jacket and what it meant they positive weren’t pondering about their cards.

His method was diversion. And it worked for him. In no way give up a system that functions for you.
