Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only participant to make it to the closing poker table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a big pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the greatest enthusiasts around the world. While betting on online poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He often participates in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of $40, 000. Hansen more often than not buys in for the minimum of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He waits for a good hand and then goes all-in. I know Gus is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless he is broke, he has absolutely no reason to play at the table with the min buy in.
Buying in for the min takes almost all of the skill out of deep stack poker. Gus is assumed to be 1 of the best poker players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full amt.. I believe tv can alter our view of the real world every now and then. The greatest poker players in the world could be guys you have never heard of. Gus can be seen competing in net poker on Full Tilt. He usually competes in big stakes omaha eight-or-better and hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his talents in cash rounds?
