No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Howard Lederer?

Howard Lederer lived in a family of 5 in which he liked gambling on different card games at a young age. He found himself getting very aggressive in the above-mentioned card games as he was playing his dad. After finishing secondary school, Howard decided to place higher education on hold for a little while and relocated to New York City to play some formidable chess. While participating in chess, he was introduced to a poker game taking place in the rear of the room. Howard’s initial 2 years were rough as he would play extensive hours and do not win a majority of the time. He earned some additional cash by being an runner for the poker players. He theorized he might improve his game by adjusting his life outside of poker. He brought about an effort to acquire more sleep and focus attention even more on the game.

The real improvement in his abilities began when he began playing at the Mayfair Club in New York. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon club where the best gamblers would often challenge one another. He was able to access several of the foremost minds in chess. With their help, he would tweak his strategic thinking techniques. Howard applied these strategic concepts to the game of No-Limit hold’em.

He also helped his sibling Annie Duke learn the game of poker. Annie Duke was a superb student of the game as she constantly asked questions about the right way to make the correct decision. He told Annie to head out to Las Vegas and play in the WSOP tournaments. She is one of the strongest female players the poker world today. Howard Lederer headed to Sin City in 1993 and competed in money games for the next decade. When the World Poker Tournament gained popularity, he decided to participate in more tournaments.
