NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Howard Lederer?
Howard Lederer grew up in a family of 5 where he loved playing various card games when he was young. He discovered himself becoming really aggressive in these particular card games as he was competing against his dad. After graduating from secondary school, Howard decided to place college on hold for a little bit and moved away to New York City to compete in some formidable chess. While playing chess, he was brought in to a poker game going on in the back of the room. Howard’s 1st two years were difficult as he would play extensive hours and lose most times. He earned some additional money by being an runner for the poker enthusiasts. He judged he might better his game by analyzing his life outside of poker. He made an effort to get more rest and focus even more on poker.
The definite advancement in his skills happened when he began betting at the Mayfair Club in New York. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon club where the best players would often challenge each other. He had access into a few of the best players in chess. With their assistance, Howard Lederer would tweak his logical thinking techniques. He applied these strategic concepts to the game of NL Texas Holdem.
He also helped his sister Annie Duke learn poker. Annie was a great student of poker as she constantly asked questions about how to make the proper choice. He told Annie to move out to Vegas and play in the WSOP tournaments. Annie Duke is one of the greatest women players the poker arena ever. Howard headed to Vegas in 1993 and competed in cash games for the following decade. When the WPT gained popularity, he made the decision to participate in more tournaments.
