NL Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker competitor in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning 1. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup everything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the detrimental feedback from other people destroy his dream of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

Phil began playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and winning wasn’t a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed many of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil says that he’s learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Even though Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
