NL Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker contender in the world by quite a few of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover everything he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the adverse feedback from others kill his ambition of becoming one of the best poker competitors in the world.
Phil started competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed many of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing love for poker. He says that he is learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes errors every single session of poker and always aspires to get better.
Although Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
