No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker competitor on the planet by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His papa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to learn every little thing he could about the game. Phil would tell his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not let the detrimental comments from others annihilate his ambition of being one of the best poker competitors in the world.

Phil started competing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a learning experience and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an undying love for poker. Phil says that he is learning every day and is quite humble about his achievements. He knows he makes blunders in each session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a regular basis.
